Of the many values and visions we at Singly hold near and dear to our hearts, open source is one of the most important.
Open source projects tap into the resources of untold numbers of minds, and are thus ever-evolving and uniquely collaborative. That’s also why we want to foster an open ecosystem of developers who can contribute, critique and co-create on Singly’s platform.
From Wikipedia to Linux to WordPress, the open source movement has brought about some of the most interesting and influential technologies in recent years. And, being open source, none of these is a finished product, they’re each becoming more perfect every day.
Beyond open source, Singly also strives to be be as open as we can. Openness, we believe, is a cornerstone of trust.

That’s why we were drawn to the Ada Initiative the moment we first heard of it. Ada is “a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing participation of women in open technology and culture.” By providing online resources, hosting events, pushing for anti-harassment commitments and surveying the tech community, Ada is striving to make the open source community as welcoming to women as possible.
Ada’s mission is a great match for a future we hope to help build, so we’ve decided to sponsor them. From today through Thursday, Singly will be matching individual donations to Ada up to $1000.
Three members of our team–Matt, Merci and Lindsay–recently had a chat with Ada co-founder Valerie Aurora to talk about Singly and Ada; here’s their blog post about the conversation.
We’re glad to have found an organization with a mission we strongly believe in, and we’re glad they let us partner with them.
